Retired from Work, Not the Union!

Local 812 retirees play a critical role in keeping our union strong.   Whenever the union needs support – at rallies, on contract, political or organizing campaigns and on the picket line – we can always count on our retired brothers.

Local 812 Retiree Club President Bill Sampson is an original club member and helped to get a charter from the IBT in 2004. With 150 active members, the club organizes retiree picnics and events that are open to all Local 812 members and their families. They get the word out when New York’s labor community needs a hand and provide strike support to active Local 812 members.

Sampson, who became a Local 812 member in 1965, and the other club members are an important resource for active Local 812 members.  They are willing to share their rich experiences on matters ranging from the importance of union solidarity to helping ease the way to life after retirement.
