  • Trustee Pooler to Retire

    pooler 2019After more than four decades working as a Teamster in the beverage industry, Local 812 Trustee and Business Agent Mark Pooler will be retiring at the end of June. A strong worker advocate, Mark was first elected shop steward in 2000.

    Mark will long be remembered for his leadership during the Clare Rose strike. Local 812 is grateful for all that Pooler has done to build our union and we wish him a very happy and long retirement.

  • DMV: How to renew a CDL

    NY DMV sealIMPORTANT: DMV is now sending renewal notices to CDL clients, that give specific instructions on how to renew by mail.

    DMV encourages CDL clients to renew using these renewal notices, and to follow the enclosed instructions. Most CDL clients can now renew by mail but there are exceptions where a client will be instructed to make a reservation to visit a DMV office.

    John Vargas LaborPress New York, NY – Teamsters Local 812 member John Vargas, 46, has been on the job for more than a decade. He works as a deliveryman for Union Beer in Secaucus, New Jersey. He’s also been a shop steward for about six years.

    Vargas works mainly in the South area of Brooklyn, which includes areas such as Coney Island and Sheepshead Bay. His shift is punishing. It begins at 5 a.m., and ends a little before 5 p.m., but he works for four days and has three days off. His commute is difficult – he lives in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
