Local 812 Members Make Gains Despite Grim Economy
The Local 812 Executive Board has successfully negotiated a number of contracts that lock-in health and retirement benefits and guarantee raises for the duration of the agreements.
Since taking office late last year, union negotiators have settled contracts covering more than half of Local 812’s members, including:
- Coca Cola Refreshments
- Pepsi Cola New York
- Pepsi Cola Distributor Association of New York
- Pepsi Bottling Ventures
- American Compressed Gas
- Ippolito Distributors Budweiser Staten Island
- Clare Rose Budweiser Nassau/ Suffolk Counties
- Anhueser–Busch Budweiser of New York
- Union Beer Distributors Budweiser Brooklyn
These contracts, covering more than 3,000 Local 812 members, were ratified by over 90% of those members covered by each contract.
Every contract improves on the last one, including:
- Percentage and bonus raises
- Stronger union membership language to expand membership by covering previously uncovered workers
- Continued non contributory medical coverage for five years
- Increased contributions towards the Local 812 Pension Fund by securing the members $100 multiplier
- Minimal or no givebacks.
